Introducing the people dispatched by the city as part of the JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers.

Yuta Watanabe

Yuta Watanabe (43), a resident of Hirao, has been dispatched to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for two years starting in October.

When Mr. Watanabe traveled to Myanmar two years ago, he became interested in learning how JICA's activities had improved the lives of the local people.

After researching about JICA, he learned that volunteering overseas was something he could do, even though he thought it was too difficult to get involved in. He also decided to participate after receiving advice from a senior who was dispatched to a JICA briefing session.

The main activity of the dispatch is to engage in environmental education and teach elementary and junior high school students about the environment. Furthermore, he said that he would like to provide a place for comprehensive learning by combining environmental education with other subjects such as mathematics and science.

Additionally, Jordan is said to be a tourist destination, and Mr. Watanabe, who loves traveling, said he was looking forward to visiting various places. We support Mr. Watanabe's heroic efforts to contribute to society through environmental education.

Miyuki Mihira

Miyuki Sanpei (23), a resident of Wakabadai, has been dispatched to the Republic of El Salvador for two years since October.

Mr. Sanpei studied history while attending university, but due to the rapid changes in the international situation in recent years, he began to feel a gap between what he was learning on paper and what was happening in reality. Mr. Sanpei, who was interested in international cooperation, decided to participate because he thought that by experiencing the field as a JICA volunteer, he would be able to reevaluate things.

At the destination, we conduct environmental conservation awareness activities for local farmers, local residents, and children. He said that he would like to work together with local people while respecting their independence, rather than imposing knowledge on them.

He also said that El Salvador is famous for its coffee, so he was excited to learn how to make delicious coffee. I look forward to seeing Mr. Sanpei's future activities, as he has said strongly that he wants to spread the learning and knowledge he has gained through his activities to as many people as possible.

Tomoe Yokoyama

Chie Yokoyama (25), a resident of Hyakumura, has been dispatched to the Republic of Chile for two years since November.

Mr. Yokoyama has been practicing judo since childhood, and the dojo he attended was actively promoting international exchange. He wanted to participate in JICA because he wanted to visit countries where there are children who cannot come to Japan without government assistance, financial resources, or ability, and connect them through judo.

It seems that he will be visiting clubs at his destination and teaching judo to local elementary school to high school students.Through judo, he hopes to learn respect and gratitude for others, and to develop a sense of humanity that can be useful in society. He said.

Also, in Chile, on Independence Day, there are festivals such as people drinking Chilean wine on the streets, and he said he was looking forward to participating. Mr. Yokoyama wants to cherish connections through international cooperation. I hope that the dispatch will serve as a bridge to other countries.
