My Town Inagi 2023 Yasuyo Takami

Update date: November 12, 2023

Inagi City wins the 43rd Tokyo Intercity Tennis Tournament (Ota Cup)

Yasuyo Takami (40 years old), a resident of Higashi-Naganuma, participated in the tournament held at the Showa-no-Mori Sports Center on July 16, 2020, as both a coach and a player, and won the championship.
This tournament will be held in Division 1 (12 municipalities) and Division 2 (remaining municipalities), and will be contested in a team tournament format with 7 doubles matches per match. Inagi City's team is made up of players who have achieved excellent results in tennis tournaments held twice a year in the city.
Looking back on this tournament, Takami said, ``This is my third year as the coach, but up until now, tournaments have not been held due to the effects of the new coronavirus, and I have not been able to achieve satisfactory results, so I am under a lot of pressure as a coach. "However, as a player, I was able to play freely with the mindset that even if I lost, I would hope that my teammates would do their best."

However, he also said, ``I don't think anyone expected Inagi City to win, including us contestants and the players from other cities.'' When asked why they were able to overturn such expectations and achieve the wonderful result of winning the championship, he answered, ``In the past, the strategy of the game was often determined by the coach alone, and the players simply followed the coach's instructions. However, this year, the team As the generational change progressed within the team and the number of young players increased, the team atmosphere became more harmonious, and the fact that the team was able to come together even before the tournament, such as not only the coach but also the players thinking about strategies together, led to the victory. I think that's a big reason," he said.

Takami started playing tennis when she was in the fifth grade of elementary school. I started it after being invited by a close friend. When I entered junior high school, I balanced tennis school and club activities, and when I was in my third year of junior high school, I even participated in the Kanto Tournament. Takami loves tennis so much that he says, ``I can't imagine life without tennis.'' The appeal of tennis is that it can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders.
Mr. Takami's future goal is to ``do my best to achieve good results as Inagi City's coach.'' Takami's further challenges continue.
