My Town Inagi 2022 Ms. Misuzu Chiba

Updated: November 21, 2022

Won three medals at the 45th National JOC Junior Olympic Cup Summer Swimming Tournament!

The long-awaited first medal at the national competition

Misuzu Chiba (11 years old), a fifth grader of Inagi Third Elementary School, participated in the 45th National JOC Junior Olympic Cup Summer Swimming Tournament held at Tatsumi International Swimming Center in Tokyo from August 22nd to 26th, 2022. , 2nd place in the 50m freestyle, 3rd place in the 50m backstroke, and 3rd place in the 50m butterfly in the 10 and under division. Looking back on this result, Mr. Chiba said, “I was very happy.
This national tournament is held twice a year in summer and spring, and Mr. Chiba has participated three times so far. After failing to make it to the finals last summer, Mr. Chiba set goals to reach the finals in the spring tournament and win a medal in the summer tournament. And just as I had planned, I advanced to the finals in all three events I participated in in the spring tournament, and won medals in all three events I participated in in the summer tournament. When I asked Mr. Chiba how he felt when he achieved his goal, he said, "I was very happy that I was able to achieve my goal and set the best time in all the events I participated in." On the other hand, there was also a scene where he expressed his frustration, saying, ``It was very frustrating that I came in 2nd in the final in the 50m freestyle, which I passed first in the preliminary rounds at the summer tournament.''

Mr. Chiba started swimming when he was seven months old, and now practices four times a week at Club Inagi. Mr. Chiba loves swimming. It seems that the fun part of swimming is that everyone can swim together and encourage each other during hard practice.

A talent that coaches have high hopes for

Coach Takatani, who coaches Chiba, says, "He's a player who works harder than anyone else when he says he's going to do his best. He shows more power than the coach asks for, so I'm always surprised." You told me. Regarding the future, he said, "As I get older, the number of events I can participate in will increase, so I want you to challenge various events. I want you to gain various experiences and play an active role in the national competition." I'm here. Finally, we asked Mr. Chiba about his future goals. "Even if I get older and participate in more events, I still want to get on the podium. And I want to win the gold medal." Mr. Chiba, who smiles and happily talks about his favorite swimming, is impressive. I can't take my eyes off her further success in the future.
