Our Town Inagi 2017: Hikari Suzuki
Japan National Synchronized Swimming Team - Active in Japan and Worldwide
Hikari Suzuki, a third-year student at Inagi Dai 1 Junior High School, achieved a remarkable victory in the synchronized swimming competition (solo category for ages 13 to 15) at the "40th National JOC Junior Olympic Cup Summer Swimming Competition" held in Sapporo in August 2017. She also excelled by winning the tournament's Most Valuable Player award in her category.
Suzuki has consistently reached the podium in various competitions held both domestically and internationally.
This year, she represented Japan in the solo category for ages 13 to 15 at the "9th AASF Asian Age Group Championships" (synchronized swimming) held in Uzbekistan in September, where she won first place, and also achieved second place in the figure competition.
This was her first overseas expedition, and although she faced challenges such as not being able to adjust to the food, she shared with a smile, "I was able to approach the competition relaxed."
Suzuki, who has a wonderful smile, is part of the synchronized swimming team, and during practice, she receives guidance not only on synchronizing with her teammates and the music but also on her smile.
When asked about her aspirations for the future, Suzuki, a member of the Japanese national synchronized swimming team, confidently stated, "I will gradually raise my goals and do my best to perform in my own style."
Given the current circumstances, expectations for participation in the Tokyo Olympics are also growing. Let's support Suzuki as she steadily moves toward her goals.
