Our Town Inagi 2018: Shiho Teranishi
Attractive Steps and Speed: Designated Female Lacrosse Strengthening Player

Mr. Teranishi (24 years old), a resident of Wakabadai, belongs to the women's club lacrosse team "FUSION" and represented Japan at the World Cup held in England last July.
Currently, as a designated athlete, he is diligently practicing every day in preparation for participating in the World Cup three years from now.
Lacrosse is said to have originated from the sacred rituals of North American indigenous peoples and was introduced to Japan in the 1980s.
In this sport, a team of 12 competes to score by getting the ball into the opponent's goal using a stick with a net attached.
Mr. Teranishi was captivated by the fast-paced and diverse shooting displayed in the sport when he entered university and joined the lacrosse club.
He quickly made a name for himself after starting lacrosse and has been active as a member of the Japan national team since his third year of university.

While working as a company employee, I go to the gym 2 to 3 times a week after work, and I participate in lacrosse practice 4 times a week before work or in the evening. On Saturdays and Sundays, I engage in club team practices and coaching, truly living a life immersed in lacrosse.
As a midfielder who serves as the starting point for attacks, Teranishi's playing style is characterized by his delicate steps and speed, allowing him to outpace international players.
In the World Cup last year, although we reached extra time in the quarterfinal match against Israel, we unfortunately lost, finishing in 9th place. Reflecting on this tournament, he said, "The moment I lost, I was able to set the challenges I needed to work on as positive goals. It was a tournament that helped me grow."

Mr. Teranishi's goal is to participate in the World Cup in three years and to promote Japan through his beloved lacrosse. There is a possibility that lacrosse will be included as a competitive event in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, and participating in the Olympics is also one of his goals. To achieve this, he passionately expressed his desire to achieve results over the next ten years, convey the appeal of lacrosse to many people through his play, and improve the environment surrounding lacrosse.
It was very impressive to see him clearly envisioning the future and seriously discussing what he would do to achieve it. Let's support his further success in the future.
