Please be careful of fraudulent solicitations and the acquisition of personal information that take advantage of the My Number system!
Information has been received regarding phone calls, emails, letters, and visits attempting to solicit or obtain personal information through fraudulent means related to the My Number system from the Cabinet Office call center, local governments, and the Consumer Affairs Center, among others.
Please be cautious of suspicious phone calls, emails, letters, and visits that claim to be related to the My Number system, and use the consultation services as appropriate based on the content.
Note: In the procedures for notification and use of the My Number, issuance of the Individual Number Card, etc., national ministries and local governments will never ask for your account number, account PIN, income or asset information, family composition, or information regarding your Pension or Health Insurance. They will also never ask you to operate an ATM. Please do not respond to any phone calls, letters, or visits regarding these matters.
Examples of fraud related to My Number
- A person claiming to be a City Hall employee visited and said, 'I came from City Hall. There is a fee for the My Number Card,' and money was fraudulently taken under the pretext of a registration fee for the My Number Card.
- You received an email stating things like "Your personal information has been leaked," "Please make sure to take action to protect your personal information," and "If My Number information leaks, it can easily lead to changes in your Certificate of Residence, opening bank accounts, etc." You were instructed to purchase electronic money as a fee for deleting your personal information, and you were tricked into sending the number needed to use that electronic money.
