About small motorized bicycles (electric kickboards, etc.)

Due to the enforcement of the revised Road Traffic Law, from July 1, 2023, electric kickboards that meet certain standards will be classified as specified small motorized bicycles, and new traffic rules will be applied, such as no longer requiring a driver's license.
What is a specified small motorized bicycle?
Those that meet all of the following criteria:
(1) Body size must be 1.9m or less in length and 0.6m or less in width (2) Maximum speed cannot be changed while driving (3) Rated output of motor must be 0.6kW or less (4) Must be automatic (AT mechanism) (5) Speed must not exceed 20km/h (6) Must be equipped with a maximum speed indicator light Note: Please see the link below for license plate issuance.

Main traffic rules for specified small motorized bicycles
◆Observe traffic rules and manners and drive safely.
(1) Drunk driving is prohibited.
(2) Driving by persons under the age of 16 is prohibited.
(3) Observe traffic lights and road signs .
