About “Zone 30”

Update date: March 3, 2022

What is “Zone 30”?

Zone 30 regulates the maximum speed within the zone to 30km/h and combines safety measures to control vehicle speeds and traffic in residential areas surrounded by highways, and to reduce pedestrian and bicycle traffic. This is a traffic safety measure aimed at ensuring safety. Please drive safely and refrain from driving through the area and obey the speed limit of 30km/h.

Why is the maximum speed limit 30km/h?

In the case of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle, the fatality rate increases sharply when the vehicle's speed exceeds 30km/h. Additionally, since there are many accidents involving pedestrians and bicycles on community roads, the speed limit will be set at 30km/h to reduce the number of accidents.

Road signs and road markings indicating Zone 30

A speed limit sign and symbol mark signboard will be installed at the entrance to Zone 30, and road markings will be posted to indicate to drivers the start of the restriction.
