About "Zone 30"
Updated: March 3, 2022
What is "Zone 30"?
Zone 30 regulates the maximum speed within the zone to 30 km/h and combines safety measures to limit the speed of vehicles in residential areas surrounded by highways, etc. It is a traffic safety measure for the purpose of protecting safety. Cars should refrain from passing through the area, observe the speed limit of 30 km/h and drive safely.
Why is there a maximum speed limit of 30km/h?
In the case of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle, the fatality rate rises sharply when the vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h. In addition, since there are many accidents involving pedestrians and bicycles on community roads, we will limit the speed to 30 km/h to reduce the occurrence of accidents.
Road sign indicating zone 30, road marking
At the entrance to Zone 30, a speed limit sign and a symbol mark signboard will be installed and the road surface will be marked to indicate the start of the regulation to drivers.
