Supervisor
Inagi City Youth Committee
Kana Yanagisawa (Youth Worker, 5th Year)
This year, the restrictions on activities due to COVID-19 have been lifted, making it a year to reconsider how we will engage in activities over the next year. Together with colleagues who started as youth workers during the period when we could not engage fully due to the pandemic, we have pushed through with limited experience, fresh ideas, and enthusiasm, while relying on the support of our seniors.
Additionally, this year, I often found myself in the role of project coordinator for each month, which allowed me to reaffirm my role within the team and contributed to my growth. By taking the lead in meetings and summarizing the opinions shared among us, the process of improving our ideas has always been fresh and interesting, with no two discussions being the same.
Moreover, the moments when the completed games are enjoyed by the children and they express that they had fun are incredibly rewarding. There are times when things go as planned, and there are also points for improvement that we realize only after trying. It feels like we are completing the games together with the children, and there are various lessons to be learned each time.
The opportunity to grow together with team members and children through seminars is extremely valuable. I believe that the experiences and wisdom gained from this activity can be applied not only here but also in other communities. I will continue to strive daily to ensure that we can engage in enjoyable activities in the future.
Umura Mio (First Year Youth Worker)
I was not good at thinking ahead.
I often acted without considering the consequences and regretted it later, and even when I was aware of it, it was not easy to change. During the Youth Worker Meeting, we not only thought about this consciously and enjoyed it, but also meticulously planned what our goals were, how to proceed, what was necessary, and what points to be careful about. Thanks to that, I have now developed the habit of keeping a schedule and confirming my actions before proceeding with something, thus acquiring the "ability to foresee the future."
These are the things that I am glad about having grown through joining the Youth Worker program.
