Tokyo air pollution medical expenses subsidy system

In Tokyo, bronchitis
To apply, certain requirements must be met.
Target audience
Those who meet all of the following criteria 1 to 5
- Those under the age of 18 (including those whose 18th birthday falls on or before the last day of the month)
- Those who have lived in Tokyo for more than 1 year (6 months for children under 3 years old) (those who are registered residents)
- Currently, bronchitis

- Those who do not smoke after the application date
Note: Acceptance of new applications from people over 18 years old (those who do not fall under 1) ended on March 31, 2015. If you are currently certified and have a medical card, and your date of birth is before April 1, 1997, you can only apply for renewal .

Scope of subsidy
Of the medical expenses incurred for treatment of the illness listed on the medical card, the amount borne by the individual after health insurance is applied will be subsidized.
Note: Those who have a peach-colored medical ticket (those whose date of birth is before April 1, 1997 and whose medical ticket is still valid) will be required to pay 6,000 yen per month out of their out-of-pocket expenses. We will provide a grant amount exceeding 100,000 yen.
Items that are not eligible for subsidies
- Medical expenses for diseases not listed on the medical card
- Application costs (document preparation fee/inspection fee)
- Standard cost of dietary and lifestyle care during hospitalization

Grant period
The validity period of the medical ticket starts from the day the health center counter receives the application documents .
- Until the last day of your birthday after two years have passed
- Until the last day of the month in which the person turns 18
whichever is shorter (will be shown on the medical card).
If you wish to continue receiving the subsidy even after the validity period has expired, you can renew it.
Please apply for renewal before the expiry of the validity period.
Note: If your date of birth is after April 2, 1997, and you already have a medical card with a validity period of up to the last day of the month in which your 18th birthday falls, you will not be able to renew it.
About renewal application
The documents required for renewal will arrive by mail from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government approximately two months before the expiration date, so please submit the necessary documents to the health center counter as soon as you receive them.
If you lose your documents or they do not arrive, we will give you a spare copy at the health center counter.
If you wish to renew, please be sure to do so within the validity period.
