FY2024 Stomach Cancer Screening (Group Screening by Mobile Screening): Target people aged 40 and over

Stomach cancer screening

For the purpose of early detection and early treatment of gastric cancer, we will carry out gastric cancer screening for citizens aged 40 and over.

Note : If there are many applications, a lottery will be held.
Note : Stomach cancer screening (individual screening) is also available at the Inagi City Hospital Health Checkup Center. For details, please see 2020 Stomach Cancer Screening (Individual Screening): Target people 40 years of age or older .
Note : Location and schedule are subject to change.

Target audience

  • Citizens over 40 years old (born before April 1, 1985)

Note: The following people cannot take the test. When deciding whether to undergo a medical examination, please follow the instructions of the medical institution conducting the examination.

  1. Those who have had their esophagus or stomach removed
  2. Those undergoing treatment or follow-up for stomach/intestinal diseases, etc.
  3. Those who are breastfeeding, pregnant, or think they are pregnant
  4. Those with a history of aspiration or hypersensitivity (hives, difficulty breathing, cold hands and feet, etc.) to barium preparations
  5. Those who have had a colon polyp removed within the past 2 months
  6. Those who have undergone surgery such as abdominal surgery or orthopedic surgery within the past year
  7. Those who have had intestinal obstruction within the past year or those who have had repeated intestinal obstruction
  8. People who are on fluid restriction due to kidney disease (artificial dialysis) etc.
  9. Those who have developed an illness such as myocardial infarction or cerebral infarction within the past year
  10. Those with constipation (such as those who have not had a bowel movement for more than 3 days on the day of the examination)
  11. Those whose systolic blood pressure is 180mmHg or higher, or whose diastolic blood pressure is 110mmHg or higher on the day of the examination
  12. Those who cannot hold the barium cup and drink it by themselves
  13. Those who have difficulty maintaining a standing position on their own or grasping the handrail of the shooting table by themselves
  14. Those who have difficulty moving smoothly according to instructions from technicians (including those who have difficulty communicating in Japanese)

Note: If you have any symptoms, please visit the outpatient clinic instead of undergoing a checkup.
Note: If you have a chronic illness and have a regular doctor, please consult with them in advance about undergoing stomach cancer screening.

(You will be given barium (contrast agent) and a foaming agent, and an X-ray of your stomach will be taken.)

How to apply

  • Please apply for a consultation ticket at the Inagi City Health Center using one of the following methods (1), (2), and (3) during the application period listed in the table above.

(1) Postcard or sealed letter

Please write the title ``Application for Stomach Cancer Screening (Screening Vehicle),'' fill in the following information, and mail it to ``Inagi City Health Center.''

Opening days: Weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and December 29th to January 3rd)

  • Self-pay: 2,250 yen


Note : If your health insurance card states that your co-payment percentage is 10%, the fee will be 750 yen, and if your health insurance card states that it is 20%, it will be 1,500 yen (you must present your insurance card, etc. at reception).

Persons eligible for exemption from contribution

If you fall under any of the following categories (1), (2), or (3) as of the date of your consultation, you will be exempt from paying any copayments. Please note that you will need to complete the necessary procedures in advance .

(1) Households receiving public assistancePlease receive a "Certificate of Protection Benefits" or "Certificate of Support Benefits Receipt" from the Living and Welfare Division of City Hall in advance and submit it at the time of your medical examination .
(2) Japanese nationals remaining in China
(3) Households exempt from municipal tax

After applying for a consultation ticket, once you have received it, please bring it with you to the health center to receive a ``Confirmation Form for Exemption of Medical Examination Fee''. Please submit the copayment exemption confirmation form to the reception on the day of the examination.
Note: If you have recently moved to Inagi City and have not yet been taxed, please have a "tax exemption certificate" issued by your previous municipality and bring it to the Health Center. Please contact the Health Center for details.

Notes: Common matters

  • One certificate is required for each type of cancer screening you receive.
  • All certificates are valid for up to six months after issue .
