Please be cautious of solicitations for inspections and cleaning of drainage facilities within residential areas.
Recently, there has been an increase in cases where business operators visit homes, seemingly at the request of the City or the Tokyo Sewerage Bureau, to recommend inspections and cleaning of drainage facilities within residential properties.
The drainage facilities within residential properties are privately owned, and it is the responsibility of the owner to maintain and manage them.
Some operators use expressions like "I was sent by City Hall" or "It is required by law," but inspections and cleaning of drainage facilities within residential properties are not mandated by law, and the city does not contract such operators at all.
Additionally, in the Tama area, there have been incidents where operators visit, recommend cleaning or repairs of drainage facilities, and when declined, they resort to intimidation or coercive language to force a contract.
If inspections or cleaning are not necessary, please clearly decline, and if you have any suspicious points, please contact the Sewerage Division of Inagi City.
