On July 24 and 25, 2021, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games cycling road race was held. Road racers from around the world gathered, with 126 male athletes starting on the 24th and 67 female athletes on the 25th, aiming from the starting point at Musashino no Mori Park to the finish line at Fuji Speedway (Shizuoka Prefecture).
On both days, the official race began in Inagi City after passing through the official starting point at Karamatsu Bridge. Approximately 300 citizen volunteers, known as course supporters, managed the race operations, including course setup and traffic guidance, along the approximately 6.9 km course in Inagi City, supporting the fierce competition of the athletes racing through the city.
Additionally, at Inagi Central Park Comprehensive Gymnasium, Inagi City hosted the "Tokyo 2020 Community Live Site in Inagi," which provided a complete live broadcast of the cycling road race. Throughout the day, many people had the opportunity to watch and experience the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games through various activities, including competition experiences and stage performances.
