About “Minamitama Station Town Opening Ceremony”

To commemorate the renovation of the area around Minami-Tama Station on the JR Nambu Line, we held a ``Minami-Tama Station Town Opening Ceremony.'' The ceremony included the unveiling of the Inagi Nashinosuke Clock Tower and the Yatter One Monument, and a talk event with Kunio Okawara, who designed Yatter One, and Koichi Yamadera, who provided the voice.

Unveiling of the "Inagi Nashinosuke Clock Tower" and "Yatterwan Monument"

In front of Minamitama Station, there is the ``Inagi Nashinosuke Clock Tower'' (approximately 1.7 meters high), which was built with donations from local companies and organizations, and the monument to ``Yatter One'' that appears in the anime ``Yatterman'' (approximately 2.0 meters high). meters) was installed and unveiled at a public opening ceremony in front of Minamitama Station.

In the second part of the ceremony, a talk event was held with guests Kunio Okawara, designer of the main mecha "Yatterwan" from the anime "Yatterman," and Koichi Yamadera, who voiced the character. They talked about the appeal of the work, including behind-the-scenes stories from the time of its production. (Moderator: Anime critic Koji Igarashi)

Kunio Okawara
Born in 1947 in Tokyo. Lives in Inagi City. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University.
Joined Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd. (currently Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd.) in 1972.
After ``Science Ninja Team Gatchaman,'' he specialized in mecha design.
Freelance since 1978.
Currently, in addition to animation work, he is actively working both domestically and internationally, including car design and receiving offers from overseas to design figures.
Received the Distinguished Service Award at the 2013 Japan Media Arts Festival.
Representative works include ``Science Ninja Team Gatchaman'', ``Time Bokan Series Yatterman'', ``Mobile Suit Gundam'', ``Armored Trooper Votoms'', ``Brave Exkaiser'', ``Mobile Suit Gundam SEED'', ``Time Bokan 24'', and many others.

Koichi Yamadera
Born in 1961 in Miyagi Prefecture.
Debuted as a voice actor in 1985.
He is also known as the voice of Cheese in the anime ``Anpanman'', Donald Duck in Disney movies, the Genie in ``Aladdin'', and Ryoji Kaji in ``Neon Genesis Evangelion''.
He has also provided dubbing for many actors in foreign films, including Jim Carrey, Brad Pitt, and Eddie Murphy.
He served as MC for the children's variety show ``Oha Suta'' for 18 and a half years, gaining popularity as the morning face of children.

Inagi City is the birthplace of Mr. Kunio Okawara, who is famous as a mechanical designer, so we have installed works that give a sense of Kunio Okawara's designs in Inagi City, and held mechanical designers summits to encourage children and families. We are working on a project that aims to create a city that is attractive to people and make it a lively city. Through this project, Inagi City will improve its attractiveness, revitalize the region, promote tourism, and increase the number of permanent residents.
