Avoid using hand sanitizer as a flame enhancer
In May 2020, a fatal fire occurred in Yanagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture due to the use of alcohol sold as a hand sanitizer during a barbecue as a combustion aid. Alcohol etc. can pose a serious fire hazard, so be careful when handling them.
Be careful of fire.
Rubbing alcohol is easily ignited by fire, and the flammable vapor generated from rubbing alcohol is heavier than air and tends to stay in low places, so please take the following precautions.
Precautions when handling rubbing alcohol
- Do not use near open flames such as the kitchen stove.
- Provide ventilation in the area where refilling is performed.
- Avoid storing in places exposed to direct sunlight
- Please check the precautions such as "No open flames"
Regarding notification and application to the fire department when storing and handling rubbing alcohol
Rubbing alcohol is classified as Class 4 alcohol, a hazardous material.
Depending on the amount of storage or handling, you may be required to apply or notify the fire department.
