What is “advocacy”?

The English word "advocacy" is translated into Japanese as "protecting rights," "support activities," or "representative activities."

The City Hospital Advocacy Consultation Room is a consultation desk that works to promptly resolve opinions, requests, and complaints from patients and their families using municipal hospitals, from the standpoint of defending their rights and interests. It has been open since May 11, 2004.

Consultations are available every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to noon.

Purpose of introducing the advocacy system

In the medical field, patients and their families generally have a weak position, and many find it difficult to bring complaints or questions to the hospital, which can lead to distrust and dissatisfaction with hospitals.
As a way to improve such distrust and dissatisfaction, we have established a consultation room independent from the hospital and have introduced this system, believing that by providing early resolution, we can further improve the relationship of trust between patients and the hospital. .

What is an advocacy consultant?

Advocacy counselors are people with extensive medical experience and are commissioned by the mayor to play a central role in promoting this system.
Specifically, we work in a position that protects the rights and interests of patients, from consultations to solutions, as well as reports and opinions to advocacy review committees.

What is the Advocacy Review Committee?

The Advocacy Review Committee is a third-party organization that receives reports from advocacy staff, reviews problematic cases that have been requested for review from a fair and neutral standpoint, and recommends the results to the mayor. The committee consists of four members appointed by the mayor.
