The torch lighting event for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay was held.
Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay Momentum Building Experience Event (held on August 19)
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay Lighting Event was held at the Hirao Complex. On the day of the event, measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 were implemented, and about 50 participants, mainly children, attended. At the venue, there were experiences such as fire-starting with a traditional method, wheelchair basketball, and prosthetic leg trials. Additionally, there was a lecture by Mr. Katsumi Miyake (former member of the Japan wheelchair basketball team) sharing his experiences from the Paralympics. At the end of the event, the fire started by the participants was transferred to a lantern by a representative.





Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay Lighting Departure Ceremony (held on August 20)
On August 19, the flame lit was unveiled at the Ikoi no Hiroba on the north side of City Hall, and a departure ceremony was held. The flame of Inagi City was transported to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government after the departure ceremony, and later became the Olympic flame for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics along with flames gathered from various local governments.


The flame ignited in Inagi City became part of the Olympic flame and was passed on by the torchbearers.
