Request for prevention of soil runoff from farmland

Updated: September 1, 2024

Soil and sand from farmland that has flowed into roads and agricultural drainage channels fills up road gutters and waterways, impairing their drainage functions and causing flooding during heavy rains.
In addition, soil and sand that flows onto roads will not only impede the passage of people and vehicles, but may also flow into the properties of neighboring residents, causing damage.
The cleanup of such soil and debris is generally the responsibility of the owner of the land on which it is washed away.
In the unlikely event that soil or sand does flow out of agricultural land, please remove it as soon as possible.

As a measure to prevent soil erosion from farmland

The city is taking advantage of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's subsidized project, "Tokyo Farmland for the Future Project."
Farmers who own conservation farmland are subsidized to cover part of the costs required for the construction of retaining walls, fences, or hedges.

For further details, please visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government website or contact us at the address listed below.
