Guide to Creating a Condominium Disaster Prevention Manual

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, even in condominiums said to be resistant to earthquake disasters, issues such as the amplification of shaking on higher floors, the toppling, falling, and movement of furniture, and being trapped in elevators have come to light.

In particular, in the Tokyo area where a direct earthquake beneath the capital is anticipated, it is important for each management association to establish a system to prepare for a major earthquake according to the specific circumstances of their individual condominiums.

In order to mitigate such damage, it is essential for each individual to prepare for disasters on a daily basis through "self-help" and for residents of apartments to cooperate with each other through "mutual assistance." Using this manual as a reference, let's standardize pre-disaster measures and activities during a disaster according to the actual conditions of each apartment, and enhance the overall disaster prevention capability of the apartment.
