On August 8, shortly after 4:30 PM, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake occurred with a depth of 31 kilometers in the Hyuga-nada region. As of August 8, there have been no significant changes observed in seismic activity or crustal deformation in the assumed source area of the Nankai Trough earthquake, which was the subject of the temporary information (Warning of Major Earthquake) announced on August 8. Therefore, the government's "special call for caution" associated with the announcement of the temporary information (Warning of Major Earthquake) will conclude at 5 PM on August 15.
We ask all citizens to continue to implement "earthquake preparedness at home" so that they can respond whenever a Nankai Trough earthquake occurs.
In addition, Inagi City will abolish the crisis management headquarters established on August 8, but we will continue to gather information.
