The Fate of Garbage
Disposal Methods for Incineration Ash
Do you know how the waste generated from your households is processed after being incinerated at the "Clean Center Tamagawa" operated by the Tamagawa Sanitation Association?
The resulting ash is transported to the "Tokyo Tama Eco-Cement Facility" located at the "Tokyo Tama Wide Area Resource Recycling Association" Futatsuzuka landfill in Hinode Town, where it is recycled into eco-cement. All household waste generated in Inagi City is recycled, and there is no landfill.
The Futatsuzuka landfill accepts waste from 25 cities and 1 town in the Tama region, serving approximately 4 million people. With the understanding and cooperation of the residents of Hinode Town, the eco-cement production from ash and the landfill of some non-burnable waste from certain cities are being carried out.
It is very difficult to create another final disposal site for waste, and there are limits to landfilling. Therefore, the operation of the eco-cement facility contributes to extending the lifespan of the landfill.
Each individual is encouraged to thoroughly separate their waste with the mindset of bringing in only the minimum amount of incineration ash to Hinode Town, recycling resources such as old paper, old cloth, cans, PET bottles, and bottles, and cooperating in further waste reduction.
