newborn hearing test
Updated: December 1, 2020
What is a newborn hearing test?
A newborn hearing test is a test performed soon after birth to detect hearing loss (hearing) at an early stage. During the examination, the sleeping baby is made to hear soft sounds, and the computer analyzes and judges the reaction to the stimuli. There are two types of results: pass and refer. Pass means that there is no problem with hearing so far, and refer means that more detailed examination is required. Babies who require a more detailed examination will be carefully diagnosed by a specialist in hearing loss in children according to their hearing development. With this test, hearing loss in babies can often be detected early after birth, and support for babies can be started from an early age. Get tested positively.

In order to receive the subsidy, a "Newborn Hearing Test Consultation Form" is required. Please use this checkup form before the child is about 1 month old.
In addition, if a newborn hearing test is carried out at a medical institution outside Tokyo for reasons such as a homecoming, we will issue a "newborn hearing test consultation fee subsidy for homecoming" .
