Promotion of work style reform at Inagi City schools

The Inagi City Board of Education is promoting work style reform for teachers at Inagi City schools.
In March 2023, we formulated the “Second Work Style Reform Implementation Plan at Inagi City Schools”, and based on this plan, we are reforming the work style of teachers.

To everyone in the community
The Inagi City Board of Education is taking the lead in promoting work style reforms for teachers, but the understanding and cooperation of everyone in the community is essential.
At schools, we are operating with the philosophy of "schools in harmony with the community", but due to the promotion of work style reform, it will become difficult for teachers to respond in the same way as before.
In order to improve the quality of education for the children who will be responsible for the next generation, we ask for your understanding of the purpose of the way teachers work.

2nd Work Style Reform Implementation Plan at Inagi Municipal Schools

Immediate goal Eliminate the number of teachers who exceed the “total of 80 hours per month” for “hours after deducting prescribed working hours from the number of hours spent at school in a day” .
Final goal Eliminate the number of teachers who spend “a total of 45 hours a month” and “a total of 360 hours a year” for “a day’s attendance hours minus the prescribed working hours”.
Direction of efforts

(1) Appropriate understanding of school hours and promotion of awareness reform (2) Review of teacher work and promotion of work improvement (3) Securing personnel system to support school (4) Reduction of burden of club activities (5) Work・Improvement of environment for realizing life balance


Practices we are working on

(1) Automatic answering by telephone voice response message outside working hours (all elementary and junior high schools in the city)

Outside of teacher working hours (8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.), calls to the school will be answered automatically with a telephone voice message.

Monday to FridayTime determined by the school other than 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Saturdays, Sundays and public holidaysall day

Note: In case of an emergency due to an incident or accident involving a child/student, please contact Inagi City Hall representative at 042-378-2111.

(2) Establishment of school holidays during the summer holidays (all elementary and junior high schools in the city)

Schools are closed on any day (period) determined by the school during the summer vacation period, when school educational activities are not conducted.

(3) Standards for extracurricular activity hours and rest days (all junior high schools in the city)

Club activities are managed by setting club activity hours and rest days.

Future practice

(1) Consideration of streamlining collection work (all elementary and junior high schools in the city)

(Future considerations)

  • Regarding the collection of fees for teaching materials, etc., we will change the method of collecting money from cash to direct debit or bank transfer to improve the efficiency of collection work.
  • Regarding the number of collections, if the number of collections is multiple times a year, it will be considered as one collection in principle.

(2) Reduction of tasks requested to schools (all elementary and junior high schools in the city)

The Board of Education will appropriately understand and reduce the number of tasks requested to the school, and will consider how to take teachers' working hours into account.
(Future considerations)

  • When teachers participate in local events at night or on holidays, we will consider rotating attendance of teachers.

(3) Promotion of going paperless at schools (all elementary and junior high schools in the city)

(Future considerations)
Regarding documents sent from schools to guardians, we will consider the situation of each school and guardians, and consider going paperless as much as possible.

(4) Utilization of external instructors for club activities (all junior high schools in the city)

(Future implementation items)
In place of advisory teachers, we will actively utilize external club activity instructors who provide specialized technical guidance.

(5) Utilization of local sports and cultural groups for club activities (all junior high schools in the city)

(Future considerations)
We will consider actively using local sports and cultural organizations on behalf of the faculty advisors.
