What is public assistance

Public assistance is based on the principle that "all citizens have the right to lead a healthy and cultured minimum standard of life" as stipulated in Article 25 of the Japanese Constitution. The purpose of this system is to provide the people with the necessary protection according to the degree of poverty, guarantee the minimum standard of living, and promote their independence. There are eight types of welfare assistance: life, education, housing, medical care, nursing care, childbirth, livelihood, and funerals.

Consultation/application

If you are having trouble with your life, such as losing your income or savings due to illness or unemployment, and are considering welfare assistance, please contact the Welfare Division. We will ask you about your living situation and guide you on how to use other systems such as public assistance and pensions. If you wish to apply for public assistance, we will give you the application documents.
Consultation and application take time, so please make a reservation for the consultation date and time in advance as much as possible.
