Accidents of old fire extinguishers exploding frequently occur
Serious accidents such as fire extinguishers bursting and causing injury or death have occurred in Japan by operating old and corroded fire extinguishers. Do not touch old fire extinguishers that are deformed or damaged, and consult the fire extinguisher manufacturer or fire extinguisher dealer.
Daily inspection
Regardless of the service life of the fire extinguisher, care must be taken when there is corrosion, damage, deformation, etc. Pay attention to the following points when inspecting installed fire extinguishers.
・Is there any deformation, rust, or corrosion on the fire extinguisher body?
・Is the cap or hose joint loose, or is the safety plug removed?
・If the fire extinguisher has a pressure gauge, does the needle point within the green range?
・Has the expiration date (useful life) indicated on the label passed?
2 place
・Avoid places with high humidity, places exposed to direct sunlight, and near fire appliances.
・Let's put it in a place that is easy to see and can be used immediately in case of emergency.
・Be careful not to fall over.
3 Disposal method
・Fire extinguishers that are no longer needed cannot be collected as municipal general garbage.
・As for the disposal of fire extinguishers, the Japan Fire Extinguisher Industry Association cooperates with local distributors (specific contact points) to recycle them, so please inquire at your nearest contact point.
・You can search for a store near you from the Fire Extinguisher Recycling Promotion Center website.
