Member of Parliament

The city council is made up of elected members of the public. Japanese citizens over the age of 18 (enforced on June 19, 2016) who have lived in the city for more than three months are eligible to vote for city council members. If you are 25 years of age or older, you are eligible to run for election to the City Council. The number (fixed number) of members of the Diet is to be established in the ordinance pursuant to the provisions of the Local Autonomy Law. The current number of Diet members is 22 according to city ordinances.
The current members were elected in the April 23, 2023 election and took office on May 1, 2023. The term of office is set at four years.
