QuestionI would like to know about the children's Medical Expenses system.

Response

For children before entering elementary school, you can receive the Medical Expenses Subsidy Program for Infants and Young Children (Maru-Nyuu). There are no income restrictions. For children in elementary and junior high schools, you can receive the Medical Expenses Subsidy Program for Compulsory Education Students (Maru-Ko). This program has income restrictions. In both cases, the portion of medical expenses that you have to pay out of pocket when receiving treatment at a medical institution covered by health insurance is eligible for subsidy. Maru-Nyuu subsidizes 20% of the out-of-pocket expenses. For Maru-Ko, you will be responsible for 200 yen for each outpatient visit, and the remaining 30% of the out-of-pocket expenses will be subsidized.
Note: For children from Single-Parent Families, the Medical Expenses Subsidy Program for Single-Parent Families may take precedence.
