My Town Inagi 2020: Taigo Sudo and Kanami Matsuo

Updated: February 1, 2020

Breakthrough in the All-Japan Tournament

Mr. Sudo (2nd year student at Inagi Second Junior High School) and Mr. Matsuo (1st year student at the same school), who attend ``Shoden-ryu Karatedo Nakamura Dojo'' in Hirao, participated in the ``13th JKJO All Japan Junior Karate Championships'' held in November. ”, Mr. Sudo won the 2nd and 3rd year junior high school boys’ 57kg and above division, and Mr. Matsuo won the second place in the 1st year junior high school girls’ under 43kg division, achieving excellent results.
This tournament is the highest peak junior tournament in which players who have won various selection tournaments can participate. In addition, this year's tournament was a fierce tournament with 1,601 players, the largest number ever.

In addition to training at the dojo, Mr. Sudo practices at home under the guidance of his family. is.
The two said, "What I like about karate is the sense of accomplishment I get when I get results in competitions for the amount of practice I've put in (Mr. Sudo)." My motto is to have fun (Mr. Matsuo),” he said of his thoughts on karate.
Karate was included as an additional sport at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but this is the first time that karate will be an Olympic sport.
The karate that will be held at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is a traditional karate that competes in kata and sudome kumite, and is a different style from full-contact karate, in which two people compete by hitting the opponent.
However, the number of players and enthusiasts of karate as a whole is large all over the world, and further development is expected through the Olympic Games.

Finally, we asked about future goals. "I was able to win the tournament, which was my biggest goal. Now that I've won, I can't lose anymore. I want to do my best in training so that I can win again next year (Mr. Sudo)." It's frustrating. I want to use this result next year so that I can win the championship next year (Mr. Matsuo)."
Let's support the activities of these two who promise to make further progress.
