What should I say when calling a fire or ambulance?

Last updated: August 31, 2015

When calling 119, do not panic and tell the following in an easy-to-understand manner.

(1) First, answer clearly whether it is a fire or an ambulance.
Examples: "It's a fire." "It's an emergency."

(2) Accurately answer the location (address, target), name, and phone number.
Example: "This is ○○ from the Inagi Fire Station, 2111 Higashi-Naganuma, Inagi City. The phone number is 042-377-7119."

(3) Respond to what happened (where and how much), injuries and illnesses (where and since when).
Example: "The cafeteria is on fire on the XX floor of the XX building."
A XX-year-old man was injured in a collision between a car and a 50cc motorcycle in front of XX.

(4) Answer if there are any people who failed to escape.

Note: If you do not know the address when you are away from home, please tell us the address of a telephone pole, target building (public building, convenience store, bus stop), intersection, etc.
