Disposal of home appliances subject to the Home Appliance Recycling Law [Air conditioners, TVs, Refrigerators (Freezers), Washing machines, Clothes dryers]
Since April 2009, the Home Appliance Recycling Law (Specific Household Appliance Recycling Law) has been amended. This law mandates manufacturers to recycle a certain level of the five items: air conditioners, televisions (including CRTs), refrigerators (including freezers), washing machines, and clothes dryers.
In accordance with the enforcement of this law, the five items that were sold in the past or have become unnecessary when replacing will be collected by home appliance retailers, and the manufacturers will carry out the recycling. The costs (collection and transportation fees of the home appliance retailers and the recycling fees of the manufacturers) will be borne by the consumers.
Note:The city cannot process these five items.
Disposal Methods for Target Appliances
There are three methods of disposal as follows.
1 Request collection from an electronics retailer
If you are replacing with a new purchase, please apply for collection at the appliance retailer where you are buying the new item. If you are only disposing of the item, please apply for collection at the appliance retailer where you purchased it.
Recycling fees and collection and transportation fees will apply. For more details, please contact the appliance retailer.
If the appliance retailer where you purchased the item is out of business and collection is not possible, please dispose of it using one of the following methods.
2 Bring to designated collection points for home appliance recycling
You can purchase a home appliance recycling ticket at the post office and bring the applicable home appliances and the recycling ticket to the designated collection location below (there are no collection or transportation fees).
