Payment and subsidies for medical expenses and allowances

Regarding medical care for single-parent families, there is a subsidy system for the cost of the insurance copayment.
In addition, there is a child rearing allowance as a national system and a child rearing allowance as a metropolitan system.

Child rearing allowance (national system)

Single-mother and single-father families self-reliance support education and training benefits

Part of the cost of acquiring the qualifications necessary for employment will be subsidized.

Target audience

Mothers of single-mother households or fathers of single-mother households who take educational training courses and who meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Receiving Child Rearing Allowance or similar income standards
  2. Participation in the relevant education and training is recognized as necessary in order to obtain a suitable job.
  3. Never received training benefits in the past

Payment amount

  • Designated courses for general education and training benefits and specified general education and training benefits based on the employment insurance system 

 Amount equivalent to 60% of the course fee (maximum 200,000 yen)

  • Designated courses for professional practical education and training benefits based on the employment insurance system

 Amount equivalent to 60% of the course fee (maximum 800,000 yen)
Note: If it does not exceed 12,000 yen, it will not be paid.
Note: For those who can receive education and training benefits from the employment insurance system, the amount will be the difference.

Single-mother family and single-father family higher vocational training promotion benefits

Part of the living expenses will be subsidized during the period of acquiring the qualifications necessary for employment.

Target audience

Mothers of single-mother families or fathers of single-mother families who work at a training institution in order to acquire a national qualification that is advantageous for employment and contributes to a stable life, and who meet all of the following requirements.

  1. Receiving Child Rearing Allowance or similar income standards
  2. Those who are expected to complete a certain course at a training institution with a term of study of one year or longer and acquire the relevant qualifications.
  3. Those who find it difficult to balance work or childcare with training
  4. Not receiving benefits similar to the job seeker support system or employment insurance system
  5. Not have received higher vocational training promotion benefits in the past


Payment period/payment amount

1. Higher-level vocational training promotion benefits During the training period (up to 3 years. However, 4 years if a 4-year course is required to acquire qualifications)
70,500 yen per month for households subject to municipal tax, 100,000 yen per month for households exempted from tax (increased by 40,000 yen per month for the last 12 months of the training period)
2. Higher-level vocational training completion support benefit: 25,000 yen for taxable households, 50,000 yen for non-taxable households (paid at the end of the training period)

Single-parent family housing support fund loan

The Tokyo Council of Social Welfare provides housing support funds to single-parent families who are eager to become independent.

Target audience

A person who meets all of the following requirements

  1. Receiving Child Rearing Allowance (including people with similar income)
  2. In principle, residents are registered in Tokyo
  3. Aiming for self-reliance in response to the formulation of the Mother-Child/Father-Child Self-Reliance Support Program

Loan target

Those who meet the following requirements without a spouse who have lived in Tokyo for 6 months or more are eligible.
Requirements: Bereavement, divorce, unknown life or death, detention by law (long term), loss of working capacity, unmarried mother or father, etc.

  1. Those supporting parents, children, siblings, etc. (no income limit)
  2. Those who have an annual income of 2,036,000 yen or less and who have supported a child under the age of 20 as a mother of a single-mother family, or those who have been married and are 40 years of age or older.

Single Parent Home Help Service

We dispatch helpers to single-parent families.

Dispatch target

A single-parent household with a child who has not completed compulsory education and has an address in Inagi City and falls under any of the following

  1. Households that have been living as single parents for less than two years, and are experiencing difficulties in carrying out their daily lives due to drastic changes in their living environment, and need support.
  2. If you are attending a vocational ability development center, etc., to acquire skills.
  3. When it is deemed necessary for promotion of independence such as job hunting.
  4. When temporary support is required due to reasons deemed necessary under social conventions, such as illness, nursing, ceremonial occasions, school events, etc. (Advance arrangements are required, so please contact us as soon as possible.)
  5. Single-parent households raising infants or children entering elementary school who have to return home late due to work reasons (excluding working hours within the prescribed working hours) are provided with regular living assistance. , families in need of childcare services.
  6. Other cases where home help services for single-parent families are deemed necessary
