Assistive device expense payment (independence support benefit)
Last updated: May 14, 2024
In order to improve the working and daily life convenience of physically disabled people, we provide assistance with the cost of assistive devices and repair such devices.
If you wish to use this service, please be sure to consult with the Disability Welfare Division in advance.
Note: As of April 2024, income restrictions for the provision of prosthetic device expenses for children (under 18 years of age) have been abolished.
About the target audience
Those who have a physical disability certificate and those with designated intractable diseases. However, those who are covered by nursing care insurance should use the nursing care insurance system for items covered by the insurance (issuance of wheelchairs, etc.). In addition, for prosthetics that are temporarily required for treatment, other systems may take priority, such as health insurance.
