December 3rd to 9th is Disability Week

December 3rd to 9th every year is Disability Week, a week aimed at deepening understanding and interest in disabilities and increasing the willingness of people with disabilities to participate in society.
Inagi City will be holding the following events to promote understanding of disabilities during Disability Week. This year's theme is "Live as yourself."

 Part 1: Film Screening "Living Ordinarily - Aiming for Independence"
Part 2: Taiko drum concert Part 3: Talk event with Paralympic gold medalist Sugiura

  • Inagi Para Art Exhibition
  • Inagi B Net Introduction

Note: Advance registration is required to participate in the "Film Screening" and "Talk Event."
Note: Sign language interpretation will be provided for the moderator and other staff members throughout Parts 1 to 3. The film in Part 1 will have subtitles, and the talk event in Part 3 will have a summary.

Disability Week 2024 in Inagi

Part 1: Film Screening "Living Ordinarily - Aiming for Independence"

The film features a care facility in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture called "Derato," which is a day care center for children and adults with severe physical and mental disabilities that was established from scratch through the efforts of their parents. A documentary film that closely follows the people involved with "Derato" will be screened.

  • Date and time: Saturday, December 7, 2024, 10:00 a.m. to noon (doors open at 9:30 a.m.)
  • Location: Inagi City Central Cultural Center Hall (next to Inagi City Hall)
  • Target: Living, working, or attending school in the city
  • Capacity: 200 people (If there are many applications, a lottery will be held)

Part 2: Taiko Drum Concert (co-hosted by General Incorporated Association Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter)

The performance will be led by Yukio Iwabuchi of the Iwabuchi Group, a hearing-impaired taiko drummer. There will also be a taiko drumming experience session open to everyone, so let's all play together.

  • Date and time: Saturday, December 7, 2024, 1:30 pm to 3:20 pm (doors open at 1:00 pm)
  • Location: Inagi City Central Cultural Center Hall (next to Inagi City Hall)
  • Target: Living, working, or attending school in the city

Note: No registration is required and entry and exit is free.

Part 3: Talk event with Paralympic gold medalist Sugiura

A talk event will be held with Ms. Sugiura, who won the women's individual road race at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games for the second consecutive year, following her victory at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

  • Date and time: Saturday, December 7, 2024, 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Location: Inagi City Central Cultural Center Hall (next to Inagi City Hall)
  • Target: People who live, work, or study in the city, who want to support Sugiura, or who are interested in cycling
  • Capacity: 200 people (If there are many applications, a lottery will be held)

Art exhibition by people with disabilities "Inagi's unique friends" (co-hosted by the Volunteer Association for Fun Participation in Disability Week)

We will be exhibiting artworks created by disabled people and disabled children facilities in the city, as well as artworks by disabled citizens. Please come and have a look.

  • Period: Friday, November 29, 2024 (afternoon) to Sunday, December 15, 2024
  • Location Central Cultural Center 1st floor lobby

Introducing Inagi City Type B Business Liaison Committee for Continuing Employment Support for Persons with Disabilities “Inagi B Net”

We will introduce and sell the activities of a Type B continuous employment support facility in the city where people with disabilities come to perform a variety of tasks, as well as the confectionery shop and miscellaneous goods they have produced.

  • Date and time: Wednesday, December 11th and Thursday, December 12th, 2024, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Location Inagi City Hall 1st floor lobby
