About cats without owners
Update date: November 21, 2023
A cat without an owner is one that has been abandoned by its owner and has bred to proliferate.
The city is making efforts to ensure a comfortable living environment and animal welfare, so we are making the following requests.
For those who feed cats
Irresponsible feeding can cause inconvenience to those around you and may lead to trouble.
Also, if cats are not spayed or neutered, kittens will be born one after another, and the number of cats without owners will increase, which will increase the number of people who see cats as a nuisance, which will actually make cats unhappy.
Rather than feeding cats needlessly, please observe the cats to make sure they are not causing a nuisance to the local community, be considerate of the local community, and follow the rules below as part of your duty when feeding cats.
- perform spay/neuter surgery
- Do not leave food out (watch over until the dog finishes eating and clean up the food and food tray)
- Clean up the droppings around
- Don't forget to consider the local community
- Do not feed on private land without the owner's permission.
Request to everyone
Some of the people feeding the cats have been spayed and neutered, adhere to the above rules, and are mindful of the local community, with the aim of reducing the number of unfortunate cats without owners. There are also individuals and groups.
It is said that if you stop feeding the cat, the cat will stay in the same place, constantly asking for food, and scavenging in the garbage, causing more damage.
We appreciate your understanding as we take care of cats without owners.
For those who are having trouble with cats
I think the reasons why people are bothered by stray cats vary from person to person, such as them leaving feces and urinating on their property, or being too noisy.
Have you ever seen a cat's ears? If the tips of their ears are cut in a V shape, they have been neutered and will not multiply any more.
In addition, neutering will help reduce the noise they make during mating season, fights, and the smell of urine.
The lifespan of stray cats is shorter than that of indoor cats, at around four years.
Please watch over us with warm eyes.
Please see below for cat-proofing measures you can take on your property.

If you have any problems or concerns about damage caused by cats or feeding cats, please contact the city.
A cat's ear cut is a sign that the cat has been spayed or neutered.
The V-shaped cut on the tip of the ear is a sign that the cat has been neutered.
The presence of a landmark can prevent the need for repeated open surgery.
Female cats become capable of breeding at around six months of age, and can become pregnant one to three times a year, giving birth to three to six kittens each time, so it is possible for a single female cat to number as many as 20 after one year, and more than 80 after two years.
Spaying and neutering can prevent the uncontrolled proliferation of cats, prevent trouble in the community, and bring people one step closer to coexistence between cats and humans.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Sakura cat free sterilization surgery project
The Public Interest Incorporated Animal Foundation issues free sterilization tickets that can be used at participating hospitals for sterilization of cats without owners as part of its free sterilization operation for Sakura cats.
What is a "Sakura Neko"? <br id="3"/>A cat whose ears have a V-shaped cut in the shape of a cherry blossom petal as a sign that the cat has been spayed or neutered.
Also, these ears are called "Sakura ears."
