Disposal of home appliances subject to the Home Appliance Recycling Law (air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators (freezers), washing machines, clothes dryers)
Updated: June 19, 2020
The Home Appliance Recycling Law (Specified Household Appliance Recycling Law) was revised in April 2009. This law requires manufacturers to recycle at a certain level or higher for five items : air conditioners, televisions (including cathode ray tubes), refrigerators (including freezers), washing machines, and clothes dryers .
With the enforcement of this law, home appliance retailers will pick up the five items that have been sold in the past or are no longer needed when replacing them, and home appliance manufacturers will recycle them. Consumers will be responsible for the cost of recycling, etc.
Note: These five items cannot be processed by the city.
How to dispose of target home appliances
There are three disposal methods:
1 Request a home appliance retail store to pick up the product.
If you want to buy a new one, please apply to the home appliance retailer where you bought the new home appliance.
Recycling fee and collection transportation fee will be charged. For details, please contact the home appliance retail store.
In addition, if it is not possible to pick up the appliance, such as the home appliance retail store where you purchased it is out of business, please dispose of it using the following methods 2 and 3.
2 Bring the item to a designated home appliance collection point
You can purchase a home appliance recycling ticket at a post office and bring the target home appliances and the recycling ticket to the designated collection points below (collection and transportation fees do not apply).
