About disposal of motorcycles (including mopeds)
Updated: January 5, 2015
The “Motorcycle Recycling System” is a system that reduces the amount of waste and effectively utilizes resources through collection, proper treatment, and recycling of discarded motorcycles by handing over the motorcycles that are no longer ridden to a shop that handles discarded motorcycles or a designated collection point. .
From October 2011, the system was partially changed, and all motorcycles manufactured or imported by participating businesses and sold in Japan no longer require a recycling fee for disposal . (A separate transportation fee is required if you bring it to a "discarded motorcycle dealer".)
Please contact the following call center or website for details of this system, such as sales outlets and collection counters that collect scrapped motorcycles, and fees that need to be paid.
