About effective use of unused food

Updated: April 1, 2020

Currently, events and other events are being canceled or postponed to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, resulting in unused food and, in some cases, a large amount of waste.

Regarding unused food, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries collects information on unused food that people wish to donate to food banks from the perspective of reducing food loss and reducing the burden of waste disposal. We are working to disseminate information all at once.

If you are having trouble disposing of unused food, please visit the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries website below.
In addition, if the food cannot be used as food in the end, including donations to food banks, please consider reusing it as feed or fertilizer (food recycling).
