What is a food drive?
Updated: July 26, 2024
What is a “food drive”?
This is a volunteer activity in which surplus food from homes and businesses is brought together and donated to welfare organizations and facilities .
Inagi City is also conducting a food drive in collaboration with environmental groups, welfare groups such as the Inagi City Social Welfare Council, and the city, with the aim of reducing food waste (such as food that is discarded unused ), making effective use of food, and supporting people in poverty.
The food you donate will be distributed to those in need through the Yanokuchi Children's Cafeteria food bank, the Inagi City Social Welfare Council, the city's welfare department, etc.

- Canned food (meat, fish, fruit, etc.)
- Seasoning (cooking oil, soy sauce, miso, sugar, etc.)
- Instant and retort food (excluding frozen and refrigerated food)
- Luxury goods (instant coffee, tea, etc.)
- Dried foods (dried noodles, seaweed, etc.)
- Rice (brown rice, mixed grain rice, etc.)
- Infant food (powdered milk, baby food, baby food, etc.)
Food requirements to bring
- unopened
- Items with an expiration date (Note 1) of 1 month or more
- Undamaged packaging or exterior
(Note 1) Please pay attention to the difference between the expiration date and the expiration date.
The difference between "best before" and " expiration date"
"expiry date"
It is about "the expiration date when you can eat deliciously" .
It is often displayed on foods that can be stored for a long time.
It doesn't mean that you can't eat it immediately after the expiration date!
For foods that have passed that period, judge them individually based on their appearance and smell.
"Expiration date"
"The period when it is safe to eat" .
It is often displayed on foods that deteriorate quickly.
It is safer not to eat anything past that.
