History of Inagi City

AD Japanese Calendar Main events
1889 Meiji 22 Yanoguchi village, Higashi Naganuma village, Daimaru village, Hyaku village, Sakahama village, and Hirao village merged to form Inagi village (population 3,750).
1897 Meiji 30 Village office construction
1919 1919 Electric lights light up in Inagi village
1929 1929 Nambu Railway (currently JR Nambu Line) opened all lines between Kawasaki and Tachikawa
1935 1935 Opening of Tamagawara Bridge
1939 Showa 14 Pyrotechnic Factory Tama Explosives Factory (currently U.S. Army Tama Service Auxiliary Facility) opened.
1946 1946 Establishment of a hospital directly managed by Inagi Village National Health Insurance
1949 1949 Part of Oshidate and Tsunehisa was incorporated into Inagi Village from Tama Village, Kitatama County (currently Fuchu City).
1953 1953 Opened Inagi Hospital Sakahama Clinic
1957 1957 Town organization enacted (population 10,145, 1,940 households)
1960 1960 Simple water supply business started
1964 1964 Tamagawa Sanitation Association (garbage disposal) established
1965 1965 Water supply project construction started, Tama New Town project city planning decided
1966 1966 Double-tracking of Nambu Line
1967 1967 Establishment of town emblem (currently city emblem)
1970 1970 Inagi Fire Station established (19 employees, 1 pump truck, 1 ambulance), moved into Hirao housing complex Inagi Town Hall Hirao Branch Office opened
1971 1971 Municipal Inagi Chuo Hospital newly built, Tama New Town Inagi district business approved
1973 1973 Opening of the Central Culture Center Establishment of city tree (Ginkgo) and city flower (Pear)
1974 1974 Keio Sagamihara Line opens to Tama Center (Opens Inagi Station and Wakabadai Station)
Inagi City water supply and sewerage are integrated into Tokyo, public relations radio broadcasting starts
1975 1975 Inagi City Long-Term Comprehensive Plan/Basic Concept Formulated Second Cultural Center Opened, Kita Ryokuchi Park Opened
1976 1976 Formulation of long-term comprehensive plan and first-term basic plan
1979 1979 Third Cultural Center opened
1981 1981 10th anniversary of municipal organization enactment, enactment of civic charter, completion of city hall, construction of burying public sewage and sewage pipes begins
1982 1982 Welfare center opened
1983 1983 Fourth Cultural Center opened
1984 1984 Formulation of long-term comprehensive plan and late-term basic plan Launch of Inagi Citizens Charter Promotion Council
1985 1985 Service start of the sewer
1986 1986 Computerization of resident registration work, operation of resident information system
1987 1987 Completion of Daimaru Water Park
1988 1988 Move-in begins in Tama New Town Koyodai area
1989 1989 Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Inagi Village
1990 1990 Formulation of the second long-term comprehensive plan and basic concept Implementation of the project to rearrange town names and numbers in the Hirao district
1991 1991 20th anniversary of municipal organization Enforcement of Inagi City Peace City Declaration Resolution, sister city tie-up with Memanbetsu Town, Hokkaido Inagi Central Park general ground and baseball field opened 2nd long-term comprehensive plan / basic plan formulated
1992 1992 General gymnasium opened, Inagi Green Wellness Foundation established Shiroyama Cultural Center opened
1993 1993 Yanoguchi Station, Inagi Naganuma Station, Minamitama Station area readjustment business approval
1995 1995 Inagi Ohashi toll road opens, Tama New Town Nagamine area begins moving in. Koyodai area wins Cityscape Grand Prix Minister of Construction Award and is selected as one of the 100 best urban landscapes.
1997 1997 Opened health center
JR Nambu Line continuous grade separation project started
1998 1998 Tamagawa Hygiene Association new factory completed New ward of municipal hospital opened and operations commenced
1999 1999 Started moving into Tama New Town Wakabadai area Opened Inagi City Hall Wakabadai branch office Opened second school lunch kitchen
the year of 2000 2000 Formulation of the 3rd Long-Term Comprehensive Plan and Basic Concept Enactment of the "Citizen Ordinance to Clean Up the Town"
2001 2001 30th anniversary of municipal establishment 3rd long-term comprehensive plan/basic plan formulated Completion of hot water system using residual heat between Clean Center Tamagawa and municipal hospital Verdy Kawasaki moved to Tokyo, based in Inagi
2002 2002 Inagi city circulation bus "i-bus" started operation 1st I-no-Machi Inagi Citizen Festival held
2003 2003 Opened Hatsuratsu Work Inagi
2004 2004 Opened Friend Hirao (former Daihachi Elementary School)
Year 2005 2005 Opening of Regional Promotion Plaza
Completed the first phase construction of the JR Nambu Line continuous grade separation project

2007 2007 Opening of the Minamitama Ridge Trunk Line Start of Nursing Care Support Volunteer System Received the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Commendation (Group Commendation) Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Enforcement of the Local Autonomy Law
2008 2008 Libraries in 7 cities along the Keio Line started to use each other
2009 2009 Complex facility i Plaza opened
2010 2010 Formulation of the Fourth Long-Term Comprehensive Plan and Basic Concept Making Inagi Ohashi Bridge Free
2011 2011 40th anniversary of municipal organization 4th long-term comprehensive plan and basic plan formulated Inagi city mascot character "Nashinosuke Inagi" is born
year 2012 2012 Health plaza opened, Municipal hospital medical checkup, Outpatient building opened
2013 2013 Development Support Center "Respo Inagi" and Education Center opened (Frendo Hirao complex)
Nanbu Line elevated changeover completed
2014 2014 i-Bus Phase 1 review route operation commenced
2015 2015 Opened Inagi Nagamine Sports Plaza Established friendship city partnership with Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture and Nozawa Onsen Village, Nagano Prefecture Opened public Inagi Fuchu Memorial Park and Nanzan Hall
2016 2016 Inagi transmission base pair terrace opened City bird (Kestrel) enacted "Inagi Free Wi-Fi" operation started Kamhirao Tunnel opened for the first time in Inagi City
2017 2017 Opened Kamhirao Fire Station
Inagi City logotype "Inagi City" and "INAGI CITY" established.
2018 2018 Established Inagi City Tourism Association 70th anniversary of the fire brigade, 50th anniversary of the firefighting headquarters
2019 2019 Birth of Hirao 4-chome
2020 Reiwa 2nd year Completed construction of the new No. 1 school lunch joint kitchen Scope dog monument installed
