About emergency fire brigade
Based on the lessons learned from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the unit was established in 1995. In June 2003, the fire department was established in order to enhance and strengthen the emergency response system from a nationwide perspective in the event of large-scale and special disasters. It was legalized by the revision of the Organization Law.
Rescue teams and ambulance teams belonging to firefighting headquarters nationwide are pre-registered as emergency firefighting teams. It is a system of nationwide firefighting support activities in which firefighters and rescuers are dispatched by local firefighters.
