Our Town 2024 Shotaro Sagara

Update date: December 28, 2023

2023 WORLD HIPHOP DANCE CHAMPIONSHIP 3rd place

In the 2023 WORLD HIPHOP DANCE CHAMPIONSHIP held in Arizona, USA in August, Shotaro Sagara (1st year junior high school student) who lives in Sakahama participated in the junior category of ``KONAMIJ.B.STAR'' ( A division in which teams of 7 to 12 year olds competed participated. A total of 42 teams participated in the tournament, and "KONAMI JBSTAR JUNIOR" won the bronze medal.

Mr. Sagara discovered dance at the age of 6, became interested in it, and began practicing dance at the Konami Sports Club Inagi in the first grade of elementary school. When I was in the 6th grade of elementary school, I passed the audition for the selection team ``KONAMI JBSTAR.''

Currently, in addition to practicing twice a week with the selected team and twice a week at Konami Sports Club Inagi, I am also a member of the dance club at my school. In addition to this, I practice independently for 30 minutes to an hour every day and spend my days immersing myself in dance.

Sagara practices hard every day, but on his days off, he likes to play his favorite games or watch anime for a change of pace, showing a glimpse of his junior high school side.

The selection team's practices involve a lot of acrobatic movements and muscle training, so it can be tough at times. When asked about his difficulties, he answered, ``It's hard to remember the moves, and sometimes I get tired of it, but I want to get better at dancing,'' and ``I just have to work hard and practice.'' I could also hear their passion for dance.

In competitions, facial expressions are included in the scoring, so they are extremely important, and Sagara seems to be practicing facial expressions every day, with an impressive smile on her face from beginning to end. Mr. Sagara graduated from the junior division of the selection team last fall and is currently active in the varsity division (ages 13 to 17).

We look forward to seeing Sagara, who is obsessed with dance, continue to be active in the future.
