My Town 2024 Naonojo Hirabayashi, Koya Sato

Update date: February 27, 2024

Participated in the 14th All Japan Youth Softball Club Team Selection Tournament

The Aso Baseball Club, to which second-year students Hirabayashi and Sato belong to Inagi Daini Junior High School, was ranked among the top two teams in Kanagawa Prefecture at the Kanto Junior High School Softball Club Team Kanto Tournament/Autumn Tournament held in December 2020. The team did well and was selected to participate in the national tournament to be held in Shiga Prefecture in August.

Mr. Hirabayashi and Mr. Sato started playing baseball at an early age due to the influence of their families, and when they were in elementary school, they belonged to Inagi City's after-school team. In addition to the Aso Baseball Club, he is also a member of his school's baseball team, practicing with the club team twice a week and participating in club activities three times a week, spending his days immersed in practice.

At Aso Baseball Club, Mr. Hirabayashi is the pitcher and Mr. Sato is the catcher. When we asked them what they liked about baseball, they said, ``It's so fun when I get a strikeout from a batter (Mr. Hirabayashi),'' and ``When I can contribute to the team, especially the games where I get to lead and bring out the best in pitchers.'' It's a lot of fun," Sato said with a smile. When we asked each other about their roles on the team, they said, ``Sato-san practices more stoically than anyone else (Hirabayashi-san),'' and ``Hirabayashi-san is someone you can rely on and keeps you in check when it's important.'' (Sato-san) ”, which shows the strength of the relationship of trust between the two.

When asked about his enthusiasm for the national tournament to be held in August, Mr. Hirabayashi said, ``I want to do my best with the goal of making it to the end at the national tournament,'' and ``My number one goal is for the team to win. Personally, I want to do my best to become the No. 1 catcher in the tournament (Mr. Sato),'' I was able to hear his strong feelings about this being his first time participating in the national tournament.

The two plan to switch to hardball baseball in high school, and their future goals are: ``I want to be the No. 1 pitcher in Kanagawa Prefecture, where my club team belongs (Mr. Hirabayashi)'' ``My core and muscle strength are still weak, so I want to strengthen them.'' I want to continue working hard and become a professional baseball player in the future (Mr. Sato),'' he said of his future goals.

Let's all support these two so that they can make the most of their daily practice at the national tournament in August.
