This year, the new year started peacefully, and I was able to participate in the New Year's events as the new mayor.
I attended the Saidan Festival on New Year's Day, and it seemed like there were more worshipers than usual at all the shrines I attended.
At the fire department's opening ceremony held on the 8th, a large rainbow appeared over the schoolyard of Koyodai Elementary School during the simultaneous spraying of water, and everyone was happy, thinking it would improve their luck.
At the coming-of-age ceremony on the 9th, 562 new adults participated and celebrated. In Inagi City, the method of independent planning and management by the executive committee has taken root, and the event is held peacefully every year. This year's event started with a lively performance by the Teikyo University Cheerleading Team, and there was a lot of content, including a video letter from Nadeshiko Japan player Iwashimizu. At a time when we are recovering from the Great East Japan Earthquake and are becoming more aware of the bonds between countries and regions, people, and volunteering and charity, it makes us think about the meaning of coming of age. Chairman Arai said that the executive committee's ``one letter'' of determination was ``Satoru.'' It seems that he is prepared to become an adult and have to take responsibility for everything in his life. I was impressed by the quality of the ceremony and the pamphlets, but I also appreciate the local strength of Inagi that is fostering such gentle and responsible young men.
On the 10th, we participated in the martial arts opening ceremony held at Tama Chuo Police Station. A red and white competition of judo and kendo was held between police officers and boys and girls. I was relieved to see that the participants showed their strong determination towards crime prevention and traffic safety in the very spirited content so early in the new year.
As I write this manuscript, it is already past the middle of January, but looking back, I remember that all the citizens I met were unanimously praying for peace and safety.
We will now prepare for the budget formulation for the new fiscal year and the first regular meeting of the City Council, but we will do our best to gather everyone's opinions and meet your expectations.
