My Number Card is a plastic card with an IC chip that contains your personal number.
It can be used as an identification document.
The design of the card is as follows.

When using convenient services such as convenience store issuance, it is necessary to have an electronic certificate installed on your My Number card.
There are two types of electronic certificates, and you can optionally install one when applying for a My Number Card.
Additionally, even after you have obtained your My Number Card, you can still have it installed by applying at the counter.
Used to create and send electronic documents over the Internet. It is possible to prove that the electronic document is authentic and was created by the user and sent by the user.
Used when logging into Internet sites, kiosks at convenience stores, etc. You can prove that the person logging in is the user.

My Number Card has a total of four types of PIN numbers.

My Number Card has a validity period.
Please note that the two electronic certificates that can be optionally installed on the My Number Card ( electronic certificate for user certification and electronic certificate for signature ) are different from the validity period of the card itself.

Note: The validity period for those who applied for a My Number Card before April 1, 2020 is as follows.
・For those over 20 years old: From issue to 10th birthday
・For those under 20 years of age: Until the 5th birthday from issue

Note: The validity period may differ from the above depending on your status of residence.
Note: After receiving your new residence card, you will need to apply for an extension of the validity period of your My Number card.
