Buried cultural properties are cultural properties such as the remains of houses and other artifacts such as pottery that are buried in the land. In addition, land where the existence of buried cultural properties is known (well-known buried cultural property sites) is mainly said to be ruins. Currently, 161 ruins have been confirmed in Inagi City.
If you plan to carry out civil engineering work on a site known to contain buried cultural properties, notification must be submitted at least 60 days before the start of construction. If you have any construction plans, please contact the Lifelong Learning Division.
If you have any questions about whether your area is a site containing buried cultural properties, please contact the Inagi City Local History Archives on the second floor of the Friend Hirao complex. Please bring a guide map or map showing the planned project site. If you are far away, you can also contact us using the dedicated form.
We do not accept inquiries by phone. In order to ensure the accuracy of the relevant areas of the storage land, we will respond to inquiries through the counter or a special form. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please fill in the necessary information in the dedicated form, attach the map, and submit it.
If the location where you are conducting civil engineering work falls under the category of buried cultural property, you will need to submit a notification based on Article 93 of the Cultural Properties Protection Act.
The submitted documents will be sent from the Inagi City Board of Education to the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education, and the submitted documents will be delivered to the submitter in about two weeks. Whether or not an excavation survey is required will be determined based on the following classification.
The submitter and the Inagi City Board of Education will discuss this, so please contact the Lifelong Learning Division if you receive a notification.
In this case, the investigation costs will be borne by the business operator.
In this case, the city will conduct a partial excavation survey in advance.
In this case, city officials will be present during foundation work etc. to check whether there is any impact on buried cultural properties.
An inspection will be conducted, and if remains or other structures are confirmed, a preliminary investigation may be carried out.
Even in such areas, we ask that you take care when carrying out your project so as not to affect buried cultural properties.
