Audit committee and audit office

Update date: August 30, 2013

Audit committee members and staff of the audit office are responsible for checking whether the city's various projects and the businesses of organizations that the city provides financial support for are being conducted appropriately and efficiently, as well as ensuring that financial and accounting operations are properly and efficiently carried out. We audit whether things are being done correctly from a standpoint independent of the mayor.
The Local Autonomy Act stipulates the selection of audit committee members, the establishment of a secretariat for auxiliary staff, the types of audits, etc. Audit committee members will be selected by the mayor from among those with excellent insight into administrative management and members of the council with the consent of the council.
In Inagi City, a total of two people are appointed: one person with knowledge and one member of the Diet. These two audit committee members and three supporting staff members conduct audits, etc.
