Regarding the holding of coming-of-age ceremonies and the target age due to the revision of the Civil Code
Update date: September 16, 2022
Coming-of-age ceremony implementation age from 2020 onwards
Due to the revision of the Civil Code, the age of majority was lowered to 18 years old from April 1, 2020, but holding a coming-of-age ceremony at the age of 18 coincides with an important time to decide one's future career, etc. There are also concerns about declining attendance rates and the economic impact.
Inagi City therefore conducted a questionnaire survey of those who will become adults in fiscal year 2022 to investigate their intentions, and based on the results of the survey and the situation in neighboring cities, it has been decided that coming-of-age ceremonies will be held for 20-year-olds from fiscal year 2022 onwards.
