Initiatives towards carbon neutrality in 2050
Updated: September 20, 2024
The city is developing a variety of projects as part of its efforts to become carbon neutral by 2050. Here is an example.
PPA business (solar power generation equipment and storage battery introduction business to public facilities)
This project involves installing solar power generation equipment, storage batteries, and related facilities in public facilities in the city, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and strengthening the city's disaster prevention resilience.
The purpose of this initiative is not only to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also to strengthen disaster resilience by securing a new power source and to promote environmental education.
We are conducting on-site surveys at candidate facilities such as city halls and elementary and junior high schools to determine whether the installation is actually possible, and will install the units in those facilities that are deemed possible over a three-year period from fiscal 2023 to fiscal 2025.
We will inform you of the progress of the project on this page.
(Note) Disaster prevention resilience: A comprehensive ability that includes the ability to overcome disasters (recovery ability) in addition to traditional preventive ability.

Public facility LED conversion project
With the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing the financial burden by reducing electricity bills in order to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050, lighting in public facilities in the city will be updated to energy-saving and long-life LED lighting. This will be implemented sequentially over a three-year period from 2020 to 2020.
