About domestic rare wild animals and plants

Updated: September 30, 2024

In February 2024, the Ministry of the Environment designated six additional species as rare domestic wild fauna and flora under the Act on Conservation of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, bringing the total to 448.
In accordance with the Species Conservation Act, the capture, collection, or transfer of individuals of domestic rare wild fauna and flora is prohibited in principle.
If you witness any illegal activities such as capturing, collecting, or transferring (for example, selling at an internet auction site), please contact the Ministry of the Environment.
