Last updated: March 15, 2022

Sister City Foster City

Overview of Foster City

Foster City in the United States, with which Inagi City established a sister city partnership in July 2021, was founded in 1971, the same year that Inagi City was incorporated as a city.
It is a beautiful waterfront planned city with a lagoon (canal) that can take in seawater from San Francisco Bay and control the water level, and has been redeveloped as a commuter town for San Francisco.

There are many stylish homes on the waterfront.

population

Approximately 30,000 people

area

51.4 square kilometers

It was developed as a beautiful waterfront city, taking advantage of the natural surroundings and making ingenious use of the waterside. It is a quiet residential area without a bustling downtown area.
The wetlands have been effectively utilized, and the lakes and waterways have been improved and maintained, and houses along the lagoons have docks, and some homes even have their own personal Duffy boats. Shopping facilities also have docks for small boats, making this a suburban new town that coexists with the waterside.
The waterway is separated from San Francisco Bay, and environmental conservation measures are in place, such as discharging sewage onto the seabed 1.5 kilometers from the coastline.

Old buildings are being redeveloped and transformed into new towns. The city is also passionate about sports and education, and the city's parks include many baseball and soccer fields.

The city is so safe that it has been selected as one of the top eight in the United States, and with a racial composition of 45% Asians, it has a positive image of Japan, making it a place where everyone from children to adults can interact with peace of mind.

Foster City is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Mateo County, California, United States, approximately 10 kilometers from San Francisco Airport.
